Fans heckles Lamar Odom after loss to Nuggets

Mavs lose to the Nuggets tonight to start the quest to repeat as NBA Champs 0 - 2. For the second day in a row the Champs allow themselves to go down 30+ in a game. Denver's biggest lead of the night was 31.

It was at that point you heard fans react with boo's. Mavs fans in attendance were again going to be escorted early out of the arena without partying in the Old No. 7.

As the team left the court for the locker room after losing 115 - 93 Lamar Odom, who did at least make it the whole game to go 1 of 10, kicked a wet floor sign. Fans that crowded the walkway normally to cheer and take facebook snapshots heckled the players while waiting for Lamar's wife to exit the tunnel. A fans direct comment to Odom saying, "Oh now you wanna get mad?", prompted security to intervene.

Rick Carlisle wants to take responsibility for the Mavs slow start admitting after the game that he does not have this team ready to play. Shawn Marion seems to think that the chemistry is just not there yet saying, "We've still got to get comfortable out there. We're not comfortable with each other on both ends of the floor. We're still trying to learn each other's games...".

Talking with the heckling fan he thinks that blame should start higher up. He feels that if Cuban really wanted to win he would have brought Tyson Chandler, Caron Butler, and JJ Barea back.

The Mavs take on the media favorite OKC Thunder next in a road game this Thursday. They could easily return back to the AAC Friday to face the Raptors 0 - 3.

Drinking Games: Lakers vs Clippers

Here is a list of 5 great drinking games for tonight's Lakers vs Clippers preseason match-up

  1. Alley-Oop - Take a shot every time Chris Paul throws an alley-oop dunk to Blake Griffin. Be warned, this could be a long night
  2. Star Gazer - Take a shot every time they show a celebrity in the crowd. This is only for people with a high tolerance level
  3. Say My Name - Take a shot every time the broadcast mentions "Dwight Howard" or "Lamar Odom". Depending on the score late in the game, this may get you trashed.
  4. I'll Pass - Take a shot every time Kobe passes the ball. Great game for light drinkers.
  5. I'm too old for this - Take a shot every time Chris Paul makes Derek Fisher look like father time. This is also for high tolerance level drinkers. Enjoy and drink responsibly.

More-Cowboys-will-be-named-in-Sam Hurd-drug-case

Sources are telling us to expect more NFL players, including Dallas Cowboys, to be named in association with Sam Hurd's arrest. Reports have stated there is a list of 10 - 15 NFL players that have allegedly done illegal business with Hurd. Hurd spent the bulk of his career as a Dallas Cowboy and it was during that time he began to make his drug connections. The Cowboys have been associated with the drug trade before with other ex-players being charged and even convicted of drug related offenses. The North Texas area has long been a hot bed of activity for federal agents which led to Sam Hurd hitting the radar. Reporters were met with angst in the Cowboy locker room when asking questions about their former teammate, including ESPN.com writer who got into a verbal altercation with Jay Ratliff and ended with the two having to be seperated. The NFL, Chicago Bears, and Dallas Cowboys have been in contact with federal agents.

Tim Tebow is a Legitimate NFL MVP Candidate; Second only to Rodgers

We have to remember this award is an individual award. A true candidate has to be the Most Valuable Player on the team. We know what the Broncos without Tim Tebow are....1 - 4. Look at the situation in Indianapolis with the winless Colts. Lose Peyton Manning and you lose the entire season. All the years that Peyton had success with the Colts could now be looked at as MVP seasons. Aaron Rodgers deserve the same mention with an undefeated Packers team. Tom Brady deserves it also for overcoming a terrible defense to be top in the AFC, for now. Tebow has 11 TDs to 2 INTs. He has made the rushing attack of the Broncos #1 in the league. He has totally changed the psychology of the entire franchise against every obstacle.

This Sunday the Broncos have a chance to beat the Patriots. If they lose this game nobody will bat an eye, because after all Tebow's luck has to run out some time. But if he wins in his trademark fashion, he should be second in the running behind Rogers.

Dear Jerry Jones, Blow it up!

Last night was the last time this Cowboy fan gets kicked in the family jewels. Sure we could look at the numbers and know what happened in the game, but we need to focus on what we see with our own eyes. You can't find one team in the world that has enough luck to lose a game the same way as many times as the 2011-2012 Cowboys. Jerry, you have put your team in the hands of the best offensive and defensive coordinators at the available time for what? Can you honestly say you have confidence in Jason Garrett, the Princeton offensive guru, and Rob Ryan, the next NFL head coach? Can you have confidence in a QB that throws 4 TDs, but can't hit a wide open Miles Austin to win the game? What about a defense that can't line up before the opposing offense snaps the ball?

There is but one solution Mr. Jones, Blow it up! New personnel, new coaches, and a new GM. That's right Jerry...You're Fired! Stick to what you do best and market Americas team. Leave the football to football people like Jimmy and Parcells. You want to WIN don't you! Division opponents, like the Giants, have a better record in your stadium that your own team. I'm frustrated, I'm sick, I'm tired, and I'm out on this season....

Sincerely,
Cowboy Fan For Life

Mavs Open Short Training Camp a Much Different Team

Arriving at the Mavs first official practice today one could easily assume that this team never won a title. A small group of media people  that were all locally based, no ESPN talking heads, and only 10 basketball players made what should be a huge moment for a franchise with it's first Championship seem normal. Other than Shawn Marion's choice of hair color, the most eye catching issue were the players in attendance. Or the lack of players in attendance. During Coach Carlisle's q and a we learned that Brandon Hayward would be the starting center for the reigning champs. Sounds good on the surface until you realize that Tyson Chandler, the best center in Mavs history, is not on this team. He joins the NY Knicks frontcourt that Jason Kidd pointed out is the same the frontcourt that qualified the USA for the Olympics. Ian Mahinmi will be Hayward's back up for now. J.J. Barea, Deshawn Stevenson, Brian Cardinal, Caron Butler and Peja were all missing as well. So much for the deepest team in terms of talent in the league.

Now a team that many thought was one of the oldest in the NBA will have to rely on their youngest players to repeat. A soon as practice was over, the only players that stayed behind for position work were Dominique Jones, Robrique Beaubois, Ian Mahinmi, Cory Brewer, and newest Mav Brandan Wright. Wright worked specifically with Coach Carlisle. The veterans had all the right answers to the missing teammate questions. After all, if you have been in the league for more than 5 years your pretty much numb to trades and free agency moves. The young Mavs know that the weight is on their shoulders. The biggest question is who will start at the 2 position. Carlisle made it clear that Terry will continue to be the 6th man. Most believe that Dominque Jones or Roddy Beaubois will split that time once occupied by Deshawn Stevenson. Talking with Jason Kidd, heading into his 18th season, he thinks that by definition of the position that Jones is more of a 1 and Roddy a 2. Mark Cuban has several moves to make to fill out this roster and only 16 days until tip-off at home against their only true rival, the Miami Heat.

Angels sign Pujols and Wilson; Rangers are still AL West favroite

C. J. Wilson has helped the Rangers control the AL West the last two seasons. His record against AL West teams is 21-8. Albert is agurably the best player in baseball. The Angels are still an old team. Sure the rotation of Weaver, Heron, and Wilson makes them better, but look at the Phillies. They have the best rotation in MLB and did not get it done last year. The Rangers still have the true core of their success with Hamilton, Cruz, Andrus, Kinsler, Napoli, Feliz, Ogando, and you can even add Beltre to the list. Jon Daniels has to sign some key players over the next two years as their free agency approaches. You can lose C. J., but you can't lose Hamilton or the chance to make a mid-season move similar to the last two seasons that have really been the key to back-to-back AL West Championships. The AL West Pennant still goes through Arlington.

2011 - 2012 NBA Schedule Released - 66 Games

Would Phil Jackson come back to coach Lakers with Howard, Paul and Bryant?

Phil Jackson has accomplished enough to retire forever from the game of basketball. But, doesn't the idea of having Dwight Howard and Chris Paul change his mind? Phil has had the luxury of coaching the best players in the NBA during their peak. From Michael and Scottie, to Kobe and Shaq, and even Kobe and Gasol have all been champions with Phil. You have to imagine that the idea of another pairing of Chris Paul and Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant could arguably be the most talented team Phil could coach.

If you are the Lakers organization then you have to be on board with Jackson returning. Gutting the team for Paul and Howard is an all in move. If your going all in then go with a proven coach, not Mike Brown. Phil could only coach the home games and the playoffs if health is an issue. Phil ultimately will have the final decision. If he wants to come back nothing could really stop him. Is Dr. Buss really going to tell Phil Jackson and Laker Nation that Mike Brown is better?
